Faliro
Faliro (Φάλήρο)
Faliro is on the coast of Athens, a suburb divided into two parts, Neo Falira is a part of Pireaus, while Paleio Faliro is a subdivision of Athens. The suburb is known for it’s marina, a number of large hotels and as the venue for the 2004 Olympic Games.
Athen’s only beach is found at Faliro, and the marina complex at Paleio Faliro is one of Greece’s largest. Originally, it was the site of a historic port, one associated with Theseus and the Argonauts.
Construction of the Olympic site found many historic artefacts while digging the foundations for the new stadium.
