Vouliagmeni
Vouliagmeni (Βουλιαγμένη)
Vouliagmeni lies 20 kilometres South East of Athens on the Saronic Gulf on a small peninsula. The town is known for its sunken lake and proximity to Mount Hymettos. The lake at the base of the mountain sits just above sea level and is fed by mountain springs that keep the lake at a comfortable 24 degrees all year round. For centuries, people have been bathing in the therapeutic waters. The lake feeds into a cave that winds its way under the mountain, which to this day has not been completely explored.
The area is surrounded by clean sandy beaches that regularly win European clean beach awards. The town is very tourist friendly with a number of good restaurants.
